about

Saxophonist Jason Kush (featured on New Focus release FCR129, The Nathan Douds Ensemble) and pianist Billy Test team up for a recording capturing the mix of spontaneity and trust that develops between two improvisers who have truly entered into a musical dialogue. Featuring a mix of seminal songs from the jazz canon, original works written by Kush and Test, and free improvisations, Intersecting Lines is a snapshot in the evolution of a musical relationship between these thoughtful musicians. Leading off with Small Feats, Ron Miller's reworking of the classic John Coltrane tune Giant Steps and ending with the classic Thad Jones ballad, A Child is Born, Intersecting Lines highlights Kush's well considered approach to changes and Test's expansive textures and harmonic sense.
